In this article, I'll discuss each of the topics covered in IB Standard Level and IB Higher Level, the number of hours dedicated to each topic, and what the IB expects you to understand in each topic.

 

2022 IB Exam Changes Due to COVID-19

Because of the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, the IB has decided to extend the adaptations which were put in place for 2021 to 2022. May 2022 IB assessments will have two routes, exam and non-exam, depending on which your school chooses. IB Economics SL and HL Core

Below is the IB Economics syllabus for SL and HL. Both are organized into four main units, each with multiple subtopics. For some units, HL has additional material to learn that SL doesn't include. Going through these subtopics will give you a broad overview of what to expect from the course.

If you're looking for a more in-depth idea of what you'll be learning, we've also included tables that break down certain subtopics in more detail. These tables from from the old version of the IB Economics syllabus (the syllabus was updated in 2020), so they don't match perfectly. However, you'll at least touch on a large majority of the topics they discuss.

  • State that the PED value is treated as if it were positive although its mathematical value is usually negative.
